Jean-Pierre "Willie" Cossette, 82, a native of the place, has worked all his life for the CNR. At 16, he began to work on the coal chute to help the family. He was a hockey player for the company and chief fireman. He has been living the golden years of the village, but now he is afraid the village won't survive him. Once a vital stop on the road to the west, Parent, Qc, was born with the train development. As it is far less a major means of transportation, the village survive on whats left of the logging industry. The northwood village has seen its population go down from 5000 to around 400.
