As the CCGS Amundsen sail around these massive iceberg a short distance away, I see the signs of time on their surface. As this mass of ice drifts south, it loses tons of water. On a human scale, this ice will not reform. The thousand-year-old conditions that saw the formation of glaciers are no longer present. Increase of inland global temperature create rivers that accelerate glacier melting and iceberg calving. The balance has changed and these cathedrals are disappearing.
